The perfect Red hair color shade for me.. And it lasts.

I just want to start off by saying my hair is naturally brown, but ohh how I love Red hair! I can spend hours Googling many different shades of red hair color. I have been dying my hair red for several years, it wasn't till recently that I quit buying department store hair dyes and looked to Sally's and tried Ion hair dye. I have finally combined the perfect color combination for me. It's been two months since I last colored my hair. The color is still lovely.

I use the following items (all can be purchased at Sally's, order mine online) to get the color I love.
8RC- light copper blonde Ion Color cream
7IR- Medium intense Red Blonde Ion Color cream
Level 30 developer Ion sensitive scalp
Argan Oil (this stuff is amazing and retains hair color)
Color brilliance red hot intensifier .5oz (I only use half)
Mixing bowl and brush (to apply color).

Two months after applying hair dye

(Mixing hair color is super easy and kinda fun! For every ounce of hair color I add an ounce of developer to match it.) So if you use 5 oz of hair dye (each dye is 2.5 oz) then use 5 oz of developer. When adding developer and dye to the mixing bowl I try to do a little at a time. I personally have tons of thick hair and use about 3-4 bottles of hair dye, most people only need 1-2.

After two months I was amazed that my color still looked red. I took a few pictures and decided to share on a post. Red is an amazing color and one can get lost in trying to decide on the right shade. It also is a color that is notorious for washing out. Argan Oil works wonders for the issue and it helps to tame my curls and frizz.

See how the roots are beginning to show? The red is still there!

  1. Your hair color is perfection! I just wondered, do you add the intensifier to the color/developer mix? And what about the argan oil? Thanks in advance for any help you can give! I'm all about the red but my hairdresser just can't handle it so I'm trying to make it happen on my own. ;)

    1. Jenni, that is the same question I have. I have never found a hairdresser that could get the red I really wanted. I moved to Guatemala for work and finally someone found it. Now the problem is I can't find the hair color here in the US two years later. I like Vanity's color, it is almost like mine so I am willing to try it. If she can just let us know if she added the oil and intensifier to the mix.

  2. Just needed to thank you for posting this awesome formula! I did 1 bottle each of 8RC- light copper blonde Ion Color cream & 7IR- Medium intense Red Blonde Ion Color cream, but added the full 3 oz of Color brilliance red hot intensifier (instead of 0.5 oz you recommended). With the 1:1 dye to developer ratio, I ended up with WAY too much dye! lol. It hurt my heart to throw the rest out, but I was SO happy with my coverage and the final result. Had to share: https://www.instagram.com/p/CFSzVd2ApKw/

    Thanks again :)
